Reposting Nidus

On re-approaching my Substack accounts I realised this had been inadvertently posted to the wrong Substack (a private one) so I’m reposting to ease back in to publishing here again.

What she hoped would happen

when someone liked her work

is that they would need to

hold it in their hands

close to themselves

and never let go

Nidus / Anna Kime / December 2021

(From original application to Cupola Gallery xmas show, a little breathlessly written to submission deadline as you’ll see!) Nidus is part of a new collection of porcelain based pieces. For this series I have been thinking about the notion of preciousness, of being precious or thinking ideas should be. The Scion theme prompted me to think about how work develops, especially ceramic work where glaze materials contribute to the growth of the piece. Nidus means both ‘a place or substance in an animal or plant where bacteria or other organisms lodge and multiply’ and ‘a place where something originates, develops, or is located’.
